In conjunction with HTE's Japan partner, MSC Ltd., HTE Research offers a very comprehensive semiconductor/embedded electronics/EDA centric consulting program to assist startups, emerging firms, or established companies to:

1) Troubleshoot client's sales and distribution channels in Japan, propose remedial actions, prepare client for Japan visit, attend key meetings during Japan visit.

2) Expand client's sales and distribution channels with additional staff, reps and/or distributors.

3) Set up a startup's initial thrust into the Japanese market by recommending the optimum strategy with implementation actions to recruit a talented country manager, generate the optimum strategies, and assist in contracting with the best
rep/distributor(s).

In this engagement, HTE serves as the North America interface to the client and MSC serves as the principal consultant doing the work in Japan.

Typically, the work we do can include any or most of the following elements:

  •  Analyze the client's situation and problem in detail to understand the issues
  •  Do market research in Japan related to client's specific needs
  •  Offer advice on penetrating the Japanese market with the appropriate price, promotion and product strategies
  •  Assist with leads to reference and key customers, as well as OEM marketing or distribution partners
  •  Source, interview, and recruit key talent to match the style of the company's culture
  •  We draw upon our vast rolodex and network to the solution as quickly as possible
  •  Introduction to Japanese venture capitalists
  •  Draw upon our extensive top-level contacts in the Japanese distribution space to find the right distributor(s)
  •  Have initial discussions with distributors to screen representation opportunities
  •  Present qualified distribution/rep candidates to client and attend meetings with key distributor management
  •  Make high-level meeting arrangements when key executive(s) visit the interested potential candidates in Japan
  •  Do tactical PR work, such as press release translation/localization to meet Japanese editorial standards and distribution to key media outlets
  •  On-site client presentations

Our work is very results oriented.  The fees vary based on the time and the extent of the services involved but are typically based on a combination of hourly, project, and contingency based compensation.
